Sun Pharma 2 - 100 G
Sitagliptin (100mg) + Metformin (1000mg)
Sitared XR is used for treatment of Type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated August 2026
Sitared XR contains Sitagliptin (100mg) + Metformin (1000mg).
Treatment of Type 2 diabetes mellitus
Sitared XR Tablet is a combination of two medicines: sitagliptin and metformin. Sitagliptin helps your pancreas produce more insulin, facilitates effective use of insulin by the body, and reduces excess sugar that your liver makes. Metformin is a biguanide that lowers glucose production in the liver, delays glucose absorption from the intestines, and increases the body's sensitivity to insulin. Together, they provide better control of blood sugar.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Sitared XR Tablet should be taken with or after food.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Sitared XR Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Sitared XR than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Sitared XR are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about every medicine you take, including over-the-counter products, vitamins and herbal or ayurvedic preparations, before starting Sitared XR. Some combinations can change how Sitared XR works or raise the chance of side effects.
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
Take Sitared XR Tablet with food to lower your chance of having an upset stomach. Take it in addition to regular exercise and a healthy diet to lower blood sugar levels. The chances of weight gain and low blood sugar are lower than with other diabetes medicines. Monitor your blood sugar level regularly while you are taking this medicine. Inform your doctor about your diabetes treatment if you are due to have surgery under a general anesthetic. Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any deep or rapid breathing, persistent nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain, as Sitared XR Tablet may cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is an excess of lactic acid in the blood.
Medicines with the same active ingredient (Sitagliptin (100mg) + Metformin (1000mg)). Ask your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands.
