Supracal K2 Tablet contains Calcium carbonate, Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol), Vitamin K2-7 (Menaquinone-7) (strengths not specified). It belongs to the Mineral supplement (calcium) + Vitamin D analogue + Vitamin K (menaquinone) class of medicines.

How Supracal K2 Tablet works

Calcium provides the mineral required for bone formation and maintenance. Vitamin D3 increases intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphorus. Vitamin K2-7 helps direct calcium deposition into bones by activating osteocalcin and may reduce deposition in soft tissues.

How to take Supracal K2 Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take as advised by physician, usually once daily after food with water. Do not chew unless stated; avoid taking at the same time as iron, thyroid medicine, or certain antibiotics—keep a 2–4 hour gap.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can raise blood calcium dangerously, causing thirst, frequent urination, vomiting, confusion and kidney damage. It can cause vomiting and stomach pain, and with iron can be dangerous, especially in children. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Supracal K2 Tablet

Most side effects of Supracal K2 are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• metallic taste
• hypercalcemia (rare)
• kidney stone risk (predisposed)

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in kidney disease, history of kidney stones, hypercalcemia, hyperparathyroidism, sarcoidosis, or vitamin D toxicity. Seek medical help for symptoms of high calcium (excess thirst, frequent urination, confusion).

Do not take Supracal K2 if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with a high blood calcium level, or with certain kidney stones.

Interactions with other medicines

Levothyroxine (reduced absorption), tetracyclines/quinolones (reduced antibiotic absorption), bisphosphonates (reduced absorption), iron/zinc/magnesium supplements (reduced absorption), thiazide diuretics (increased hypercalcemia risk), digoxin (arrhythmia risk with hypercalcemia), warfarin/coumarin anticoagulants (vitamin K2 may reduce effect)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.

Take calcium with food, and split the day's total if you take a large amount. Sunlight helps your body make its own vitamin D. Have your level rechecked as your doctor advises rather than continuing high doses indefinitely. Take it with food unless the pack says otherwise. Have deficiencies confirmed and rechecked by blood test rather than supplementing indefinitely.
