Telsaan Beta 25 Tablet contains Telmisartan (40mg) + Metoprolol Succinate (25mg). It belongs to the Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) + Beta-1 selective beta-blocker class of medicines.

How Telsaan Beta 25 Tablet works

How to take Telsaan Beta 25 Tablet

Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day. Swallow tablet whole with water; do not crush/chew if extended-release. Can be taken with or without food. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Telsaan Beta 40mg/25mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. It can cause a dangerously slow heartbeat, a severe fall in blood pressure, wheezing and fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Telsaan Beta 25 Tablet

Most side effects of Telsaan Beta are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• slow heart rate (bradycardia)
• low blood pressure
• nausea
• diarrhea
• cold hands/feet

Warnings and precautions

Not for self-medication. Avoid in pregnancy; can harm the unborn baby. Use with caution in kidney or liver disease, dehydration/low salt, heart block, severe bradycardia, heart failure, asthma/COPD (may worsen bronchospasm), diabetes (may mask low sugar symptoms), and in elderly. Monitor blood pressure, pulse, kidney function and potassium. Do not stop metoprolol abruptly (risk of rebound angina/arrhythmia). Seek urgent help for fainting, very slow pulse, breathing difficulty, swelling of face/lips, or severe dizziness.

Do not take Telsaan Beta if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines. Not for people with a very slow heart rate, certain heart block disorders, or uncontrolled heart failure. Generally avoided in severe asthma.

Interactions with other medicines

Other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), diuretics (increased BP drop), potassium supplements/salt substitutes and potassium-sparing diuretics (hyperkalemia), NSAIDs (reduced effect and kidney risk), lithium (toxicity), digoxin (bradycardia), verapamil/diltiazem/amiodarone (heart block/bradycardia), clonidine (rebound hypertension if stopped improperly), insulin/oral antidiabetics (masked hypoglycemia), alcohol (increased dizziness)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original strip and out of reach of children.

You have been prescribed Telsaan Beta 40mg/25mg Tablet for the treatment of high blood pressure. Lowering blood pressure reduces chance of future heart attack & strokes. It may cause dizziness. Get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position. Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor as it can cause sudden increase in your blood pressure.
