How Tonact 10 works

Atorvastatin is a statin (HMG‑CoA reductase inhibitor) that reduces cholesterol production in the liver. It lowers LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides and can modestly increase HDL (good cholesterol), helping prevent plaque buildup in arteries.

How to take Tonact 10

Oral tablet. Take as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Continue diet and lifestyle measures; do not stop without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of TONact 10 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine is unlikely to cause immediate harm but may increase the risk of muscle and liver injury. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Tonact 10

Most side effects of Tonact are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Contraindicated in active liver disease or unexplained persistent transaminase elevation. Risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis—seek care for unexplained muscle pain/tenderness/weakness, especially with fever or dark urine. Monitor liver function if clinically indicated. Use caution in alcohol use, hypothyroidism, renal impairment, elderly, and with interacting medicines. Not recommended in pregnancy; avoid breastfeeding.

Do not take Tonact if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Not for people with active liver disease.

Interactions with other medicines

Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (clarithromycin, erythromycin, azole antifungals, HIV protease inhibitors), grapefruit juice, cyclosporine, gemfibrozil/other fibrates, niacin, colchicine, daptomycin (myopathy risk), warfarin (INR monitoring), digoxin (monitor levels), amiodarone/verapamil/diltiazem (increase atorvastatin levels)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

TONact 10 Tablet may cause diarrhea, gas, or an upset stomach. If any of these happen to you, please consult with your doctor. Inform your doctor if you experience fatigue, muscle weakness, or muscle pain. Your doctor may check your liver function before starting the treatment and regularly thereafter. Inform your doctor if you notice signs of liver problems, such as stomach pains, unusually dark urine, or yellowing of skin or eyes. Inform your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease, or diabetes before starting treatment with this medicine. If you are diabetic, monitor your blood sugar level regularly, as TONact 10 Tablet may cause an increase in your blood sugar level. Do not take TONact 10 Tablet if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding. TONact 10 Tablet treats high cholesterol by lowering "bad" cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides (fats). It should be taken in addition to regular exercise and a low-fat diet.
