Tuspress Syrup contains Chlorpheniramine Maleate (2mg/5ml) + Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide (10mg/5ml) + Menthol (1.5mg/5ml) + Phenylephrine (5mg/5ml). It belongs to the Centrally acting antitussive class of medicines.
Symptomatic relief of dry (non-productive) cough due to throat irritation/cold/allergy.
Cough suppressants reduce the cough reflex by acting on the cough center in the brain, thereby decreasing the urge to cough. This helps relieve dry, irritating cough and improves comfort and sleep.
Oral syrup. Shake well before use. Measure dose with a measuring cup/spoon and take as advised by the doctor; may be taken with or without food. Do not exceed the recommended dose; avoid use in children unless prescribed.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Tuspress Syrup, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Tuspress than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Tuspress are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Use with caution in liver disease, respiratory depression, elderly, and children. Seek medical advice if cough lasts >7 days, is accompanied by fever/rash, or breathing difficulty.
Alcohol and other CNS depressants (sedatives, opioids, benzodiazepines) may increase drowsiness/respiratory depression; MAO inhibitors and some antidepressants may interact with certain cough suppressants; consult doctor before combining with other cold/cough medicines to avoid duplication.
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from light. Keep bottle tightly closed. Keep out of reach of children.
Tuspress Syrup helps relieve dry persistent cough. Take it as per dose and duration suggested by the doctor. Drink extra fluids to help loosen the congestion and lubricate your throat while you are taking this medication. It may cause dizziness and drowsiness. Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking Tuspress Syrup as it can cause excessive drowsiness. Inform your doctor if your cough lasts more than 7 days, comes back, or occurs with fever, rash or headache that lasts. These could be signs of a serious condition.
