Composition of Vehycal-Xt Tablet

Vehycal-Xt Tablet contains Calcium Carbonate (1250mg) + Vitamin D3 (2000IU) + Methylcobalamin (1500mcg) + L-Methyl Folate Calcium (1mg) + Pyridoxal-5-phosphate (20mg). It belongs to the Calcium supplement with Vitamin D and trace mineral (zinc) class of medicines.

How Vehycal-Xt Tablet works

Calcium provides the essential mineral required for bone and teeth mineralisation and normal muscle/nerve function. Vitamin D3 increases intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate and helps maintain bone strength. Zinc supports bone formation and tissue repair.

How to take Vehycal-Xt Tablet

Tablet; take as directed by physician, usually once daily after food. Swallow with water; do not crush/chew unless advised. Maintain a gap of 2–4 hours from iron, thyroid medicines, or certain antibiotics.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Vehycal XT Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can raise blood calcium dangerously, causing thirst, frequent urination, vomiting, confusion and kidney damage. It is unlikely to cause serious harm, because the body passes surplus B vitamins out in the urine. It in very large doses taken over months can itself damage nerves, causing numbness and unsteadiness. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Vehycal-Xt Tablet

Most side effects of Vehycal-Xt are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• metallic taste

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in kidney disease, history of kidney stones, hypercalcaemia, hyperparathyroidism, sarcoidosis, or vitamin D toxicity. Do not exceed recommended dose; prolonged high intake may cause hypercalcaemia (thirst, frequent urination, confusion). Ensure adequate hydration. If on other calcium/vitamin D products, avoid duplication.

Do not take Vehycal-Xt if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with a high blood calcium level, or with certain kidney stones.

Interactions with other medicines

Levothyroxine (reduced absorption), tetracyclines and quinolones (reduced antibiotic absorption), bisphosphonates (reduced absorption), thiazide diuretics (risk of hypercalcaemia), digoxin (arrhythmia risk with high calcium), corticosteroids (reduced calcium absorption), anticonvulsants like phenytoin/phenobarbital (reduced vitamin D effect), iron supplements (reduced absorption)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
