Composition of Vildatin 50 Tablet

Vildatin 50 Tablet contains Metformin (500mg) + Vildagliptin (50mg). It belongs to the DPP-4 inhibitor (gliptin) class of medicines.

Uses of Vildatin 50 Tablet

• Type 2 diabetes mellitus—used to improve glycaemic control along with diet and exercise; may be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medicines (e.g.
• metformin

• insulin) as prescribed.

How Vildatin 50 Tablet works

Vildagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor. It increases incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP), which enhances glucose-dependent insulin release and reduces glucagon secretion, thereby lowering blood glucose with a low risk of hypoglycaemia when used alone.

How to take Vildatin 50 Tablet

Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once or twice daily with or without food. Swallow with water at the same time each day; do not stop without medical advice. If a dose is missed, take it when remembered unless it is close to the next dose.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Vildatin 50 M Tablet SR, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Vildatin than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Vildatin 50 Tablet

Most side effects of Vildatin are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Headache
• dizziness
• tremor
• nausea
• abdominal pain
• diarrhoea
• constipation
• fatigue
• nasopharyngitis
• peripheral oedema
• hypoglycaemia (more likely with sulfonylureas/insulin)
• skin rash

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Vildatin 50 Tablet

Warnings and precautions

Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Liver function monitoring may be advised; stop and seek medical help if symptoms of hepatitis occur (jaundice, dark urine, persistent nausea). Rare risk of pancreatitis—seek urgent care for severe persistent abdominal pain. Use caution in renal impairment (dose adjustment may be required) and in patients with heart failure; consult doctor before use. Inform doctor about history of angioedema; serious allergic reactions are rare. Not a substitute for diet/exercise and regular glucose monitoring.

Interactions with other medicines

Insulin and sulfonylureas (increased risk of hypoglycaemia), ACE inhibitors (may increase risk of angioedema), other antidiabetic medicines (additive glucose-lowering), alcohol (may worsen glycaemic control and pancreatitis risk). Clinically significant CYP interactions are unlikely.

How to store Vildatin 50 Tablet

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Vildatin 50 Tablet

Take it in addition to regular exercise and a healthy diet to lower levels of blood sugar. Take it with food to lower your chance of having an upset stomach. Inform your doctor about your diabetes treatment if you are due to have surgery under a general anesthetic. Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any deep or rapid breathing, persistent nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain, as Vildatin 50 M Tablet SR may cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is an excess of lactic acid in the blood. Your doctor may check your kidney and liver function before starting treatment and regularly thereafter. Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms such as abdominal pain, fatigue, loss of appetite, darkened urine, or yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice).
