Vilor F 50 Inhaler contains Fluticasone Furoate (50mcg) + Vilanterol (12.5mcg). It belongs to the Inhaled corticosteroid + long-acting beta2-agonist (Fluticasone furoate + Vilanterol) class of medicines.

Maintenance treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) where inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) plus long-acting beta2-agonist (LABA) therapy is appropriate; helps prevent wheezing and breathlessness and reduces exacerbations.

How Vilor F 50 Inhaler works

Fluticasone furoate is an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces airway inflammation, swelling and mucus production. Vilanterol is a long-acting beta2-agonist that relaxes airway smooth muscles to keep airways open for prolonged relief. Together they improve breathing control and reduce flare-ups when used regularly.

How to take Vilor F 50 Inhaler

For inhalation use only. Use exactly as prescribed, typically once daily at the same time each day. Rinse mouth with water and spit after each use to reduce risk of oral thrush. Not for immediate relief of sudden breathing attacks—keep a rescue inhaler (e.g., salbutamol) available.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Vilor-F 50 Inhaler, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may cause a racing heart, restlessness and a rise in blood pressure if swallowed. It can cause a racing heart, marked tremor, headache and a fall in blood potassium. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Vilor F 50 Inhaler

Most side effects of Vilor F are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Do not use for acute bronchospasm/status asthmaticus. LABA-containing medicines must be used with an ICS in asthma; use only as prescribed. Risk of oral candidiasis—rinse mouth after use. Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, arrhythmias, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, glaucoma, osteoporosis, liver impairment, and in those with infections (including TB). Long-term/high-dose ICS may cause adrenal suppression, reduced bone mineral density, cataract/glaucoma and growth effects in children. Seek medical help if breathing worsens, rescue inhaler is needed more often, or signs of pneumonia occur (especially in COPD).

Do not take Vilor F if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Decongestant sprays are not suitable for very young children without medical advice. Not for anyone with a known allergy to the propellant used in the inhaler.

Interactions with other medicines

Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir/cobicistat) may increase fluticasone/vilanterol exposure and systemic steroid/beta-agonist effects; beta-blockers may reduce bronchodilation; other sympathomimetics may increase cardiovascular effects; diuretics/xanthines/systemic steroids may increase risk of hypokalemia; MAO inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants may potentiate beta-agonist cardiovascular effects; other LABA-containing inhalers should be avoided.

How to store Vilor F 50 Inhaler

Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct heat/sunlight. Do not freeze. Keep inhaler in original pack and out of reach of children.

Vilor-F 50 Inhaler ‘dampens down’ inflammation in the lungs to provide long-term (maintenance) treatment of asthma and prevent disease progression. Vilor-F 50 Inhaler will not work for an ongoing asthma attack. Use your rescue inhaler to control sudden difficulty in breathing. Learn the correct technique of using metered dose inhalers (MDI) and dry powder inhalers (DPI) to ensure that the right amount of medication reaches your lungs, and side effects are minimized. Gargle with warm water after each inhalation to avoid any fungal infections in your mouth and throat. Take it at the same time every day to prevent asthma attacks. Do not open and close the cover unnecessarily as you will lose the medicine. Never breathe out into the mouthpiece. Only minuscule amounts of Vilor-F 50 Inhaler may get absorbed into the bloodstream after inhalation. Hence, serious side effects such as weight gain are unlikely.
