Voglibose 0.2 mg + Metformin Hydrochloride (strength unknown)
Vogkare M 0.2 Tablet is used for type 2 diabetes mellitus (as add-on to diet and exercise) to control post-meal and overall blood glucose, especially when single therapy is insufficient.
Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated August 2026
Vogkare M 0.2 Tablet contains Voglibose 0.2 mg + Metformin Hydrochloride (strength unknown). It belongs to the Alpha-glucosidase inhibitor + Biguanide class of medicines.
Voglibose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that delays intestinal carbohydrate digestion and absorption, reducing post-meal blood sugar spikes. Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity, helping lower fasting and postprandial glucose.
Oral tablet. Usually taken with meals as prescribed; voglibose-containing combinations are typically taken just before the first bite of a main meal. Swallow whole with water; do not skip meals. Dose and frequency depend on blood sugar control and kidney function.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take the missed dose of Vogkare M as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.
Taking more Vogkare M than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Vogkare M are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Risk of hypoglycaemia increases if used with insulin or sulfonylureas; monitor glucose. Metformin may rarely cause lactic acidosis—risk increases with kidney impairment, dehydration, severe infection, heart/respiratory failure, liver disease, heavy alcohol use; stop and seek care if rapid breathing, severe weakness, abdominal pain occur. Avoid in severe renal impairment; periodic renal function monitoring required. Temporarily withhold metformin around iodinated contrast studies and major surgery as advised by a doctor. Voglibose may cause GI discomfort; titrate as directed.
Alcohol (increases lactic acidosis risk with metformin), iodinated contrast media, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (e.g., topiramate/acetazolamide), cimetidine, diuretics, corticosteroids, thyroid hormones, beta-agonists, insulin and sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
