A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Volboz 0.2 mg Tablet. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Volboz 0.2 mg Tablet contains Voglibose (0.2mg). It belongs to the Alpha-glucosidase inhibitor class of medicines.
Voglibose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that slows the breakdown and absorption of carbohydrates in the intestine. This reduces the rise in blood glucose after meals and helps improve overall glycaemic control.
Oral tablet. Typically taken just before meals or with the first bite of food, as prescribed by the doctor. Do not skip meals after taking; follow diet and exercise advice and monitor blood glucose regularly.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Volboz 0.2 Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Volboz than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Volboz are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Use with caution in patients with inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal obstruction, chronic intestinal disorders, or severe digestive problems. Not recommended in diabetic ketoacidosis. Monitor liver enzymes if advised; rare liver function abnormalities can occur. If hypoglycaemia occurs when used with insulin/sulfonylureas, treat with glucose (dextrose) rather than sucrose/table sugar. Consult doctor in elderly and in renal/hepatic impairment.
Insulin, sulfonylureas (e.g., glimepiride, gliclazide) may increase risk of hypoglycaemia; other antidiabetics; intestinal adsorbents/digestive enzyme preparations may reduce effect; corticosteroids and thyroid hormones may affect glycaemic control; alcohol may increase risk of hypoglycaemia with combination therapy.
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
