Vonomac 10 mg Tablet contains Vonoprazan 10 mg (as vonoprazan fumarate) tablet. It belongs to the Potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) class of medicines.

How Vonomac 10 mg Tablet works

Vonoprazan is a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) that inhibits the gastric H+/K+ ATPase (proton pump) in stomach parietal cells. It suppresses acid secretion rapidly and for a prolonged duration, helping relieve heartburn and promote healing of acid-related injury.

How to take Vonomac 10 mg Tablet

Take by mouth as advised by the doctor, usually once daily. Can be taken with or without food; take at the same time each day and swallow whole with water. Do not crush or chew; duration depends on the condition being treated.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Vonomac as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Vonomac than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Vonomac 10 mg Tablet

Most side effects of Vonomac are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in severe liver disease. Long-term acid suppression may increase risk of infections (e.g., C. difficile), vitamin B12/magnesium deficiency, and may mask symptoms of gastric malignancy—seek medical advice if alarm symptoms occur (weight loss, vomiting blood, black stools, persistent pain). Inform doctor if you have osteoporosis risk, recurrent diarrhea, or are on long-term therapy. Not for immediate relief of acute chest pain.

Interactions with other medicines

May affect absorption of medicines needing acidic gastric pH (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, posaconazole suspension, erlotinib). Caution with digoxin, iron salts, and certain antivirals (e.g., atazanavir/nelfinavir—avoid if advised). Check with doctor before combining with other acid suppressants.
