Zensita Trio 1000 Tablet contains Metformin (1000mg) + Dapagliflozin (10mg) + Sitagliptin (100mg). It belongs to the Biguanide + DPP-4 inhibitor + SGLT2 inhibitor class of medicines.

Uses of Zensita Trio 1000 Tablet

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (as an adjunct to diet and exercise) to improve glycaemic control when triple therapy is appropriate.

How Zensita Trio 1000 Tablet works

Metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and improves insulin sensitivity. Sitagliptin (a DPP-4 inhibitor) increases incretin levels, enhancing insulin release and reducing glucagon after meals. Dapagliflozin (an SGLT2 inhibitor) increases urinary glucose excretion by blocking glucose reabsorption in the kidneys.

How to take Zensita Trio 1000 Tablet

Oral tablet; take exactly as prescribed. Usually taken once daily with food (preferably with the main meal) and swallowed whole (do not crush/chew) if extended-release. Maintain adequate hydration and follow diet/exercise advice; monitor blood glucose as advised.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a dangerous build-up of acid in the blood, with vomiting, severe weakness and laboured breathing. It can cause dehydration and a fall in blood pressure. It may cause low blood sugar, particularly if you also take other diabetes medicines. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Zensita Trio are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Risk of lactic acidosis with metformin (higher in kidney impairment, dehydration, severe infection, alcohol excess); assess renal function before and during therapy. Dapagliflozin may cause volume depletion/low BP, genital/urinary infections, and rare ketoacidosis (may occur even with near-normal glucose); stop and seek care if nausea/vomiting, abdominal pain, rapid breathing occur. Sitagliptin has rare risk of pancreatitis and severe joint pain; seek care for severe abdominal pain. Use caution in elderly, patients on diuretics, low BP, or with renal/hepatic impairment; hold around major surgery/acute illness and before iodinated contrast as per clinician advice. Monitor for hypoglycaemia if used with insulin/sulfonylurea.

Do not take Zensita Trio if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with severe kidney disease, severe liver disease, or an acute illness causing dehydration. Not for people who have had diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with severe kidney disease.

Interactions with other medicines

Insulin or sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk),diuretics (increased dehydration/hypotension risk),ACE inhibitors/ARBs and NSAIDs (renal function effects),iodinated contrast media (lactic acidosis risk—temporary stoppage may be needed),cimetidine and other OCT2/MATE inhibitors (increase metformin levels),digoxin (sitagliptin may increase levels),rifampicin (may reduce sitagliptin exposure),carbonic anhydrase inhibitors e.g., topiramate (metabolic acidosis risk),alcohol (increases lactic acidosis risk)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
