Composition of Alaspan Am Tablet

Alaspan Am Tablet contains Aspirin (Acetylsalicylic Acid) 75 mg + Atorvastatin 10 mg. It belongs to the Salicylate antiplatelet (COX inhibitor) + HMG‑CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) class of medicines.

How Alaspan Am Tablet works

Aspirin irreversibly inhibits platelet COX-1, reducing thromboxane A2 and thereby preventing platelet aggregation (blood clot formation). Atorvastatin inhibits HMG‑CoA reductase, lowering LDL cholesterol and stabilizing atherosclerotic plaques, reducing cardiovascular events.

How to take Alaspan Am Tablet

Tablet; take once daily as prescribed, preferably at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food; swallow whole with water. Do not stop without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause serious and difficult-to-control bleeding. It is unlikely to cause immediate harm but may increase the risk of muscle and liver injury. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Alaspan Am Tablet

Most side effects of Alaspan Am are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Risk of bleeding (including GI bleed); avoid in active peptic ulcer/bleeding disorders. Use caution in asthma, gout, kidney or liver disease. Atorvastatin may cause muscle problems (myopathy/rhabdomyolysis) and liver injury—seek care for unexplained muscle pain/weakness, dark urine, jaundice. Avoid use around major surgery unless advised. Not for children/teens with viral illness (Reye’s syndrome risk with aspirin).

Do not take Alaspan Am if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with active bleeding, a bleeding disorder, or a recent bleed into the brain. Must not be used in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Not for people with active liver disease.

Interactions with other medicines

Anticoagulants/antiplatelets (warfarin, heparin, clopidogrel), NSAIDs (ibuprofen), corticosteroids, SSRIs/SNRIs (bleeding risk), methotrexate, valproate, ACE inhibitors/diuretics (renal effects), fibrates (fenofibrate/gemfibrozil), macrolides (clarithromycin/erythromycin), azole antifungals, HIV/HCV protease inhibitors, cyclosporine, grapefruit juice (atorvastatin levels)

How to store Alaspan Am Tablet

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from moisture and heat; keep in original blister pack away from light.

Expert advice for Alaspan Am Tablet

Carry a card or note saying which blood thinner you take. Take it at the same time every day; a missed dose leaves you less protected. Use paracetamol rather than an anti-inflammatory for ordinary aches, unless your doctor says otherwise. Continue your diet, exercise and, above all, stopping smoking — the medicine adds to these, not replaces them. Get your lipid profile repeated as your doctor advises.
