Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure); treatment of chronic stable angina and vasospastic (Prinzmetal) angina; may help reduce risk of cardiovascular events related to high blood pressure.
Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle, lowering blood pressure and improving blood flow to the heart to reduce angina symptoms.
Tablet for oral use. Take as prescribed by the doctor, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow with water; do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Amcard 5MG Tab. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Use with caution in liver disease (dose adjustment may be needed). May cause dizziness—avoid driving/operating machinery until you know the effect. Monitor for swelling of ankles/feet and low blood pressure symptoms (lightheadedness, fainting). Use cautiously in severe aortic stenosis, heart failure, or very low blood pressure. Do not discontinue without consulting your doctor.
