Composition of Atorem 10 Tablet

Atorem 10 Tablet contains Atorvastatin (40mg). It belongs to the HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (Statin) class of medicines.

Uses of Atorem 10 Tablet

Used to treat high cholesterol (hypercholesterolaemia) and mixed dyslipidaemia; lowers LDL and triglycerides and raises HDL; helps reduce risk of heart attack and stroke in people at risk of cardiovascular disease.

How Atorem 10 Tablet works

Atorvastatin is an HMG‑CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that reduces cholesterol synthesis in the liver. This increases LDL receptor activity and enhances clearance of LDL cholesterol from the blood, lowering LDL and triglycerides and modestly increasing HDL.

How to take Atorem 10 Tablet

Oral tablet. Take once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Continue diet/exercise changes as advised; swallow whole with water. Dose and duration as prescribed; do not stop without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine is unlikely to cause immediate harm but may increase the risk of muscle and liver injury. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Atorem 10 Tablet

Most side effects of Atorem are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Not recommended in pregnancy or breastfeeding. Use with caution in liver disease, heavy alcohol use, hypothyroidism, kidney impairment, and in older adults due to higher muscle side-effect risk. Seek medical help if unexplained muscle pain/tenderness, dark urine, severe fatigue, or jaundice occurs (risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis and liver injury). Periodic lipid profile and liver function monitoring may be advised.

Do not take Atorem if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Not for people with active liver disease.

Interactions with other medicines

Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (clarithromycin, erythromycin, ketoconazole/itraconazole, ritonavir/cobicistat), grapefruit juice (large amounts), cyclosporine, gemfibrozil and other fibrates, niacin (high dose), colchicine, warfarin (monitor INR), diltiazem/verapamil, amiodarone

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct light. Keep in original strip and out of reach of children.
