Atornet 10 contains Atorvastatin (10mg).
Atornet 10 mg Tablet is used in the treatment of high cholesterol.
Atornet 10 mg Tablet is a lipid-lowering medication (statin). It works by blocking an enzyme (HMG-CoA-reductase) that is required in the body to make cholesterol. It thus lowers "bad" cholesterol (LDL), triglycerides and raises "good" cholesterol (HDL).
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Atornet 10 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take the missed dose of Atornet as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.
Taking more Atornet than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Atornet are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
| Pregnancy | Atornet 10 mg Tablet is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Human and animal studies have shown significant adverse effects on the foetus. Please consult your doctor. |
|---|---|
| Breastfeeding | Atornet 10 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby. |
| Alcohol | Taking Atorvastatin with alcohol may increase the risk of liver damage. |
| Kidney | Atornet 10 mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Atornet 10 mg Tablet is recommended.
However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease. |
| Liver | Atornet 10 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Atornet 10 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Atornet 10 mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease. |
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about every medicine you take, including over-the-counter products, vitamins and herbal or ayurvedic preparations, before starting Atornet. Some combinations can change how Atornet works or raise the chance of side effects.
Store Atornet below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.
