Composition of Autrin Capsule

Autrin Capsule contains Ferrous fumarate 152 mg (equivalent to elemental iron 50 mg) + Folic acid 0.5 mg + Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) 7.5 mcg. It belongs to the Oral iron preparation + Vitamins (Folate, Vitamin B12) class of medicines.

How Autrin Capsule works

Ferrous fumarate replenishes iron stores needed for hemoglobin formation and oxygen transport. Folic acid and vitamin B12 support DNA synthesis and red blood cell maturation, helping correct megaloblastic and mixed nutritional anemias.

How to take Autrin Capsule

Take as directed by a doctor, usually 1 capsule daily or as prescribed. Preferably take after food to reduce stomach upset; swallow whole with water. Avoid taking with tea/coffee, calcium/antacids close to the dose as they can reduce iron absorption.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause vomiting and stomach pain, and with iron can be dangerous, especially in children. It is unlikely to cause serious harm, because the body passes surplus B vitamins out in the urine. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Iron may cause black stools; if you notice blood in stools or severe abdominal pain, seek medical advice.
