Composition of Bio D3 Strong

Bio D3 Strong contains Calcitriol (0.25mcg) + Calcium Carbonate (1250mg) + Zinc (7.5mg) + Magnesium (50mg) + Vitamin K2-7 (45mcg) + Methylcobalamin (1500mcg) + L-Methyl Folate (800mcg). It belongs to the Vitamin D analogue (Cholecalciferol) class of medicines.

How Bio D3 Strong works

Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is converted in the body to active vitamin D, which increases intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate. It helps maintain normal blood calcium levels and supports bone mineralization and muscle function.

How to take Bio D3 Strong

Take as directed by physician. Commonly, 1 unit (60000 IU) once weekly for 6–8 weeks, then maintenance as advised. Swallow whole with water; preferably take after food or with milk to improve absorption.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Bio-D3 Strong Soft Gelatin Capsule, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not take extra to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may be harmful — seek medical advice immediately. It can raise blood calcium dangerously, causing thirst, frequent urination, vomiting, confusion and kidney damage. It can cause vomiting, stomach pain and, with some minerals, damage over the longer term. It can cause vomiting and stomach pain, and with iron can be dangerous, especially in children. It is unlikely to cause serious harm, because the body passes surplus B vitamins out in the urine. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Bio D3 Strong

Most side effects of Bio D3 Strong are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in kidney disease, history of kidney stones, hypercalcaemia, hypervitaminosis D, sarcoidosis or other granulomatous disorders. Avoid taking additional high-dose vitamin D or calcium supplements unless prescribed. Overdose may cause high calcium levels leading to confusion, dehydration, arrhythmias or kidney injury—seek medical help if symptoms occur.

Do not take Bio D3 Strong if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Your doctor will confirm this medicine is suitable for you. Not for people with a high blood calcium level, or with certain kidney stones.

Interactions with other medicines

Thiazide diuretics (risk of hypercalcaemia), digoxin and other cardiac glycosides (arrhythmia risk with high calcium), anticonvulsants like phenytoin/phenobarbital/carbamazepine (reduced vitamin D effect), rifampicin (reduced effect), corticosteroids (reduced effect), cholestyramine/orlistat (reduced absorption), aluminium/magnesium-containing antacids (risk in kidney disease)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Bio D3 Strong

Inform your doctor if you have kidney problems or a history of kidney stones. Let your doctor know if you are taking any other medications for bone disorders, antihypertensives, antibiotics, antacids, other calcium supplements, or medicines for heart disease. Inform your doctor if you are taking an iron supplement, as the absorption rate might be affected. Include calcium-rich foods in your diet, like milk, cheese, yogurt, calcium-fortified soy milk, and green leafy vegetables like spinach.
