How Carca 6.25 works

Carvedilol is a non-selective beta-blocker with alpha-1 blocking activity. It slows heart rate and reduces the force of contraction (beta-blockade) and relaxes blood vessels (alpha-blockade), lowering blood pressure and reducing cardiac workload.

How to take Carca 6.25

Take by mouth as advised by the doctor, preferably at the same time each day. Commonly taken with food to reduce the chance of dizziness/low blood pressure; swallow tablet with water and do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Carca as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Carca than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Carca 6.25

Most side effects of Carca are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• dizziness
• fatigue
• low blood pressure
• slow heart rate
• headache
• nausea
• diarrhea
• weight gain
• shortness of breath
• cold hands/feet

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

May cause dizziness or fainting especially after first dose or dose increase—rise slowly from sitting/lying. Do not stop abruptly (risk of worsening angina/heart issues); taper under medical supervision. Use with caution in asthma/COPD (may trigger bronchospasm), diabetes (may mask low sugar symptoms), thyroid disorders, severe liver disease, peripheral vascular disease, and conduction disorders (heart block/bradycardia). Monitor blood pressure and pulse; seek help for wheezing, swelling, sudden weight gain, severe dizziness or very slow pulse.

Interactions with other medicines

Other blood pressure medicines (ACE inhibitors/ARBs, diuretics, calcium channel blockers like verapamil/diltiazem), digoxin, antiarrhythmics (amiodarone), clonidine (withdrawal issues), insulin/oral antidiabetics (may mask hypoglycemia), NSAIDs (may reduce BP-lowering effect), rifampicin (reduces carvedilol levels), cimetidine (may increase levels), antidepressants like fluoxetine/paroxetine (may increase levels), alcohol (adds to hypotension/dizziness).
