Type 2 diabetes mellitus (to improve glycaemic control along with diet and exercise); may also be used to reduce risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization for heart failure in eligible patients as per physician advice.

Oral tablet. Usually taken once daily, preferably at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water; dose and duration as prescribed. Maintain adequate hydration; monitor blood glucose as advised.

A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Empaheart-10MG Tab. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Prescription-only antidiabetic. Risk of dehydration and low blood pressure—use caution in elderly, on diuretics, or with low BP. Can increase risk of genital mycotic infections and UTIs. Rare but serious: ketoacidosis (even with near-normal sugars), Fournier’s gangrene, severe allergic reactions—seek urgent care for nausea/vomiting, abdominal pain, rapid breathing, confusion, genital pain/swelling, fever. Not recommended in type 1 diabetes; avoid in severe renal impairment/ESRD/dialysis; renal function should be assessed before and during treatment. Temporarily stop before major surgery/acute serious illness as advised by doctor.
