How Evalon Cream works

eVALon Cream contains estriol (a type of estrogen—female sex hormone). It works by delivering estriol (estrogens) directly into the vagina to relieve vaginal symptoms of menopause such as dryness, burning, irritation, and painful sexual intercourse. Additionally, it helps restore the normal vaginal pH and microflora, improving the health of the urogenital epithelium and reducing the risk of infections.

How to take Evalon Cream

Apply a small amount of cream on cleansed face and neck. Gently massage in circular motions until fully absorbed. Use daily for best results.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of eVALon Cream, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may cause nausea, vomiting and withdrawal bleeding. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Evalon are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Take a hormonal medicine at the same time every day; the effect depends on a steady level. Seek urgent care for sudden chest pain, breathlessness, severe headache, weakness on one side, or pain and swelling in a calf — hormone preparations can raise the risk of clots. Tell your doctor if you smoke, have migraine with aura, high blood pressure, or a family history of clots or breast cancer, before starting. Report any unusual or heavy vaginal bleeding to your doctor.

Do not take Evalon if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with a history of blood clots, certain hormone-sensitive cancers, or active liver disease. Several are contraindicated in pregnancy.

Interactions with other medicines

Rifampicin, several anti-epileptics and St John's wort make hormonal contraception unreliable. Tell your doctor about every medicine, supplement and herbal product you take.

How to store Evalon Cream

Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Close the cap tightly after each use. Keep out of the reach of children.

eVALon Cream can be applied to the external vaginal area or inserted into the vagina using the applicator provided. It does not expose the rest of your body to the medicine, thereby avoiding side effects that happen more often with pills. Do not have sex right after using eVALon Cream, as some of the medicine can be absorbed into your partner's skin. Inform your doctor if you experience any vaginal bleeding or spotting, abnormal vaginal discharge, or vaginal discomfort while using this medicine. Do not use eVALon Cream if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or have a history of blood clots or heart diseases.
