How Ferro-Forte Syrup works

Iron replenishes body iron stores needed to form hemoglobin and red blood cells, improving oxygen-carrying capacity. Added vitamins/minerals (if present) support red cell production and correct associated nutritional deficiencies.

How to take Ferro-Forte Syrup

Oral syrup. Shake well before use. Take the prescribed dose using a measuring cup/spoon, preferably after food to reduce stomach upset. Avoid taking at the same time as milk, tea/coffee, antacids, calcium or thyroid medicines; keep a 2–4 hour gap.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Ferro-Forte as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Ferro-Forte than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Ferro-Forte Syrup

Most side effects of Ferro-Forte are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Nausea
• stomach upset
• constipation
• diarrhea
• abdominal pain
• dark/black stools
• metallic taste
• vomiting

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Ferro-Forte Syrup

Warnings and precautions

Do not use in iron overload conditions (hemochromatosis/hemosiderosis) or non–iron-deficiency anemia unless advised by a doctor. Keep out of reach of children—accidental iron overdose can be dangerous. Use with caution in peptic ulcer disease, inflammatory bowel disease, or history of intolerance to iron. If severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, allergic reaction, or signs of overdose occur, seek urgent medical help.

Interactions with other medicines

Antacids, calcium supplements, milk products, tetracycline antibiotics (e.g., doxycycline), fluoroquinolones (e.g., ciprofloxacin/levofloxacin), levothyroxine, bisphosphonates (e.g., alendronate), penicillamine, methyldopa—separate dosing by 2–4 hours; vitamin C may increase iron absorption

How to store Ferro-Forte Syrup

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Keep the bottle tightly closed. Do not freeze.
