Glimy Mv2 Tablet contains Glimepiride 2 mg + Metformin 500 mg (sustained/extended release) + Voglibose 0.2 mg. It belongs to the Sulfonylurea + Biguanide + Alpha-glucosidase inhibitor class of medicines.

How Glimy Mv2 Tablet works

Glimepiride (a sulfonylurea) increases insulin release from pancreatic beta cells. Metformin improves insulin sensitivity and reduces glucose production by the liver. Voglibose slows carbohydrate digestion/absorption in the gut, reducing post‑meal blood sugar spikes.

How to take Glimy Mv2 Tablet

Take exactly as prescribed. Usually taken once daily with the first main meal (or as directed). Swallow tablets whole; do not crush/chew (especially if SR/ER). Maintain diet and exercise; monitor blood glucose regularly.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause severe and prolonged low blood sugar, which may lead to fits or unconsciousness. It can cause a dangerous build-up of acid in the blood, with vomiting, severe weakness and laboured breathing. It may cause low blood sugar and marked stomach upset. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Glimy Mv2 are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Risk of low blood sugar (higher with missed meals, alcohol, strenuous exercise, or with other antidiabetic drugs); carry a quick source of glucose. Metformin may rarely cause lactic acidosis—risk increases with severe kidney disease, dehydration, severe infection, shock, heavy alcohol use; avoid in significant renal impairment and use caution in liver disease and elderly. Voglibose commonly causes gas/diarrhoea; avoid in intestinal obstruction, chronic intestinal disease, or significant GI disorders. Inform doctor before surgery/fasting and before iodinated contrast scans (metformin may need to be stopped temporarily). Monitor kidney function, liver function, and vitamin B12 with long-term use.

Do not take Glimy Mv2 if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with severe kidney or liver disease. Not for people with severe kidney disease, severe liver disease, or an acute illness causing dehydration. Not for people who have had diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with heart failure, active bladder cancer or unexplained blood in the urine.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol (increases hypoglycaemia and lactic acidosis risk), insulin/other antidiabetics (additive hypoglycaemia), beta-blockers (mask hypoglycaemia symptoms), ACE inhibitors (may increase hypoglycaemia), corticosteroids/thiazide diuretics (raise glucose), quinolones (affect glucose), rifampicin (reduces effect), azole antifungals/macrolides (increase sulfonylurea effect), iodinated contrast media (lactic acidosis risk with metformin), cimetidine (raises metformin levels)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Glimy Mv2 Tablet

Take it shortly before a meal, and eat that meal. Check your sugar as often as your doctor has asked, especially when your routine changes. Take it with or just after food to reduce stomach upset. Keep taking it even when your sugar readings look normal — that is the medicine working. Continue your diet and physical activity; this medicine works alongside them, not instead of them. Take it with the first mouthful of your meal so it can act on that meal. Expect some wind in the first weeks; it usually settles.
