Glimda Mv 2 Tablet contains Glimepiride (2mg) + Metformin (500mg) + Voglibose (0.2mg). It belongs to the Sulfonylurea + Biguanide (modified release) + Alpha-glucosidase inhibitor class of medicines.

How Glimda Mv 2 Tablet works

Glimepiride increases insulin release from the pancreas and improves insulin sensitivity. Metformin reduces glucose production in the liver and improves peripheral glucose uptake. Voglibose delays intestinal carbohydrate absorption, reducing post‑meal glucose spikes.

How to take Glimda Mv 2 Tablet

Take exactly as prescribed. Usually taken once daily with/just before the first main meal; swallow tablet whole (do not crush/chew, especially for modified‑release metformin). Monitor blood glucose regularly and follow diet/exercise advice.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

It can cause a dangerous build-up of acid in the blood, with vomiting, severe weakness and laboured breathing. It may cause low blood sugar and marked stomach upset. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Warnings and precautions

Risk of hypoglycaemia (especially with missed meals, excess exercise, alcohol, or other antidiabetics). Metformin may rarely cause lactic acidosis—risk increased in kidney impairment, dehydration, severe infection, heart/liver failure, or excessive alcohol; stop and seek urgent care if severe weakness, fast breathing, abdominal pain, or unusual sleepiness occurs. Avoid in severe renal impairment; periodic kidney function monitoring required. Temporarily withhold metformin around iodinated contrast procedures and major surgery as advised by doctor. Use caution in elderly and in people with irregular eating habits.

Do not take Glimda Mv if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with severe kidney or liver disease. Not for people with severe kidney disease, severe liver disease, or an acute illness causing dehydration. Not for people who have had diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with heart failure, active bladder cancer or unexplained blood in the urine.

Interactions with other medicines

Other antidiabetics/insulin (increased hypoglycaemia), alcohol (increases hypoglycaemia and lactic acidosis risk), corticosteroids and thiazide diuretics (may raise glucose), ACE inhibitors (may enhance glucose‑lowering), beta‑blockers (may mask hypoglycaemia symptoms), fluoroquinolones (dysglycaemia), cimetidine (may increase metformin levels), iodinated contrast media (risk of lactic acidosis—temporary discontinuation), rifampicin (may alter metformin effect)
