How to take Glipcrin Dm 10/500 Tablet

Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Usually taken once daily with food (often with the first/main meal) to reduce stomach upset; swallow whole if extended-release—do not crush or chew. Maintain adequate hydration and follow diet/exercise advice.

Warnings and precautions

Dapagliflozin can cause genital/urinary infections, dehydration/low BP, and rarely ketoacidosis even with near-normal sugars—seek care for nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, rapid breathing. Temporarily stop during major surgery, severe illness, prolonged fasting, or dehydration; may need to stop before iodinated contrast procedures as advised. Use caution in elderly, those on diuretics, low BP, liver disease. Monitor blood glucose and HbA1c regularly.

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with severe kidney disease. Not for people with severe kidney disease, severe liver disease, or an acute illness causing dehydration. Not for people who have had diabetic ketoacidosis.

Interactions with other medicines

Insulin and sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk), diuretics (increased dehydration/low BP), ACE inhibitors/ARBs/other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), corticosteroids and sympathomimetics (raise glucose), iodinated contrast media (metformin—lactic acidosis risk; hold as advised), alcohol (increases lactic acidosis risk), cationic drugs cleared by kidneys such as cimetidine (may increase metformin levels)
