Metoprolol succinate extended-release 25 mg
Hypertension (high blood pressure), angina (chest pain), chronic heart failure (as adjunct therapy), rate control in supraventricular tachyarrhythmias (as advised by physician), secondary prevention after myocardial infarction (as prescribed)
Metoprolol is a cardioselective beta-1 blocker that reduces the effects of adrenaline on the heart. It slows heart rate and decreases the force of contraction, lowering blood pressure and reducing the heart’s oxygen demand. The XL (extended-release) form provides prolonged effect over the day.
Oral extended-release tablet. Take once daily at the same time each day, preferably with or immediately after food. Swallow whole; do not crush or chew. Dose is as prescribed by the doctor; do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Common side effects of Metosux XL 25 may include:

Do not stop abruptly (risk of rebound hypertension/angina). Use with caution in asthma/COPD (may worsen bronchospasm), diabetes (may mask hypoglycaemia symptoms), thyroid disorders (may mask thyrotoxicosis), peripheral vascular disease, and in patients with low heart rate, heart block, or severe hypotension. In heart failure, initiate and titrate under medical supervision. Seek help if severe dizziness, fainting, wheeze, swelling, or very slow pulse occurs.
