Myotan Ct 40/12.5 mg Tablet contains Telmisartan 40 mg + Chlorthalidone 12.5 mg. It belongs to the Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) + Thiazide-like diuretic class of medicines.

How Myotan Ct 40/12.5 mg Tablet works

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II, lowering blood pressure. Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that increases salt and water excretion, reducing blood volume and BP. The combination provides additive BP-lowering effect.

How to take Myotan Ct 40/12.5 mg Tablet

Take as prescribed by doctor, usually once daily at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food; swallow tablet with water. Because it contains a diuretic, taking it in the morning may reduce nighttime urination. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

Warnings and precautions

Monitor blood pressure, kidney function and electrolytes (especially potassium, sodium, magnesium). Use caution in kidney impairment, liver disease, gout (may raise uric acid), diabetes (may affect glucose), and in patients with electrolyte imbalance. Avoid use in severe renal impairment/anuria. Seek help if swelling of face/lips, breathing difficulty (angioedema), severe dizziness/fainting, or decreased urine occurs.

Do not take Myotan Ct 40/12.5 mg if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines. Not for people who are unable to pass urine, or who are severely dehydrated.

Interactions with other medicines

Other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), NSAIDs (reduced effect and kidney risk), lithium (increased lithium toxicity), potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics/salt substitutes (risk of high potassium with telmisartan), diuretics or corticosteroids (electrolyte imbalance), ACE inhibitors or aliskiren (increased renal/hyperkalaemia risk; avoid in diabetes with aliskiren), digoxin (telmisartan may increase levels), antidiabetic medicines (may require dose adjustment)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
