A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Picspot Gel 15 g. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Picspot Gel 15 g contains Azelaic Acid (15% w/w).
Treatment of Acne
Picspot Gel contains azelaic acid that works by killing the acne-causing bacteria and reducing inflammation (redness and swelling) of the skin.
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the gel. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Picspot Gel, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule.
Taking more Picspot than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Picspot are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Store Picspot below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.
Apply it precisely only over the affected area. If irritation happens, stop using it and consult your doctor. If you have sensitive skin, you should apply Azelaic acid only once a day for the first week of treatment and then proceed to twice daily applications. Before applying the cream/gel, clean the skin thoroughly with plain water and let it dry. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or other inner skin layers (mucous membranes). In case of accidental contact, wash immediately with large amounts of cold water. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
