Samlokind-At contains Amlodipine (2.5mg) + Atenolol (50mg). It belongs to the Calcium channel blocker + Beta-blocker class of medicines.

How Samlokind-At works

Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes and widens blood vessels, lowering blood pressure and improving blood flow. Atenolol is a beta-blocker that slows heart rate and reduces the heart’s workload. Together they provide better blood pressure control than either medicine alone in some patients.

How to take Samlokind-At

Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food; swallow whole with water. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Samlokind-AT Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure and a dangerously slow or irregular heartbeat. It can cause a dangerously slow heartbeat, a severe fall in blood pressure, wheezing and fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Samlokind-At

Most side effects of Samlokind-At are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Do not use without medical advice if you have severe bradycardia, heart block, cardiogenic shock, uncontrolled heart failure, or severe low blood pressure. Use with caution in asthma/COPD (beta-blockers may worsen bronchospasm), diabetes (may mask low sugar symptoms), thyroid disorders, kidney or liver disease. May cause dizziness—avoid driving/operating machinery if affected. Do not stop abruptly as it may worsen angina or cause rebound hypertension.

Do not take Samlokind-At if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with very low blood pressure or with severe narrowing of the aortic valve. Not for people with a very slow heart rate, certain heart block disorders, or uncontrolled heart failure. Generally avoided in severe asthma.

Interactions with other medicines

Other blood pressure medicines (additive hypotension), verapamil/diltiazem (risk of bradycardia/heart block), digoxin (bradycardia), antiarrhythmics like amiodarone (conduction issues), clonidine (rebound hypertension if stopped improperly), NSAIDs (may reduce antihypertensive effect), insulin/oral antidiabetics (masked hypoglycemia), alcohol (increased dizziness)

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from moisture and light. Keep in original strip and out of reach of children.

You have been prescribed Samlokind-AT Tablet for the treatment of high blood pressure. Lowering blood pressure reduces chance of future heart attack & strokes. It may cause dizziness. Get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position. Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor as it can cause sudden increase in your blood pressure. Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy.
