Sitagliptin 25 mg
Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve blood sugar control, as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic medicines (along with diet and exercise).
Sitagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). This enhances glucose-dependent insulin release and reduces glucagon secretion, thereby lowering blood glucose levels with a low risk of hypoglycaemia when used alone.
Take orally exactly as prescribed, usually once daily, with or without food. Swallow tablet whole with water; take at the same time each day. Dose may need adjustment in kidney disease—do not change dose without doctor advice.
Common side effects of SITARED 25MG TAB may include:
Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Use with caution in kidney impairment; dose adjustment/monitoring of renal function is required. Rare but serious: pancreatitis (seek care for severe persistent abdominal pain), severe joint pain, hypersensitivity reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty), bullous pemphigoid. Risk of hypoglycaemia increases when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas—may require dose reduction. Inform doctor if you have history of pancreatitis.
