Teicoplanin 200 mg (as lyophilized powder) for injection
Treatment of serious Gram-positive bacterial infections such as complicated skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections (including osteomyelitis), hospital-acquired pneumonia caused by susceptible organisms, bacteraemia/septicaemia, and infective endocarditis; used especially when MRSA/MRSE is suspected or when patients cannot receive beta-lactams.
Teicoplanin is a glycopeptide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to D-Ala-D-Ala termini of peptidoglycan precursors. This prevents cross-linking of the cell wall, leading to bacterial death against susceptible Gram-positive organisms.
For IV or IM use only; reconstitute the vial with the recommended diluent and further dilute for IV infusion as per label/hospital protocol. Dose and duration are decided by the physician based on infection type, severity, kidney function and body weight; loading doses are commonly used initially. Administer at the same time each day; do not self-administer.

Prescription-only hospital antibiotic. Use only for confirmed/suspected susceptible Gram-positive infections; not active against most Gram-negative bacteria. Dose adjustment and monitoring required in renal impairment; monitor kidney function and blood counts during prolonged therapy. Rare but serious hypersensitivity reactions (including anaphylaxis, SJS/TEN) may occur—stop and seek urgent care if severe rash, facial swelling or breathing difficulty develops. Ototoxicity is rare but risk increases with concomitant ototoxic drugs; monitor hearing in high-risk patients. Caution in patients with known glycopeptide allergy (e.g., vancomycin).
