Tel Revelol 40/50 contains Telmisartan (40mg) + Metoprolol Succinate (50mg). It belongs to the Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) + cardioselective beta-blocker (beta-1 blocker) class of medicines.

How Tel Revelol 40/50 works

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II, lowering blood pressure. Metoprolol succinate is a cardioselective beta-blocker (ER) that reduces heart rate and cardiac output and suppresses renin release, further lowering blood pressure and reducing cardiac workload.

How to take Tel Revelol 40/50

Take by mouth as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day. Swallow the tablet whole (do not crush/chew as it is extended-release). Can be taken with or without food; continue regularly even if you feel well.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Tel-Revelol 40/50 Tablet ER, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. It can cause a dangerously slow heartbeat, a severe fall in blood pressure, wheezing and fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Tel Revelol 40/50 are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Prescription medicine. May cause dizziness—avoid driving until you know its effects. Monitor blood pressure and pulse regularly. Do not stop metoprolol suddenly (risk of angina/heart attack/arrhythmia); taper only under medical supervision. Use with caution in asthma/COPD (may worsen bronchospasm), diabetes (can mask hypoglycemia symptoms), thyroid disorders, peripheral vascular disease, kidney or liver impairment, and in elderly. ARBs like telmisartan can cause increased potassium—avoid potassium supplements/salt substitutes unless advised; monitor serum potassium and kidney function. Contraindicated in pregnancy; avoid in bilateral renal artery stenosis. Seek care for severe dizziness/fainting, very slow pulse, breathing difficulty, swelling of face/lips, or reduced urine output.

Do not take Tel Revelol 40/50 if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines. Not for people with a very slow heart rate, certain heart block disorders, or uncontrolled heart failure. Generally avoided in severe asthma.

Interactions with other medicines

Other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), diuretics (enhanced BP drop/dehydration), potassium supplements/salt substitutes and potassium-sparing diuretics (hyperkalemia), NSAIDs (reduced antihypertensive effect and possible kidney injury), lithium (increased lithium levels/toxicity), digoxin (may increase levels—monitor), insulin/oral antidiabetics (beta-blocker may mask hypoglycemia), clonidine (rebound hypertension if withdrawn improperly), verapamil/diltiazem/amiodarone and other rate-lowering drugs (bradycardia/heart block), alcohol (enhanced dizziness)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original strip/blister. Keep out of reach of children.
