Telcure Beta 50 Tablet contains Telmisartan (40mg) + Metoprolol Succinate (50mg). It belongs to the Beta-blocker (cardioselective beta-1 blocker) class of medicines.

How Telcure Beta 50 Tablet works

How to take Telcure Beta 50 Tablet

Tablet (likely sustained/extended release): take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time, preferably with or immediately after food. Swallow whole; do not crush/chew/split extended-release tablets. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Telcure Beta 50 Tablet ER, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. It can cause a dangerously slow heartbeat, a severe fall in blood pressure, wheezing and fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Telcure Beta 50 Tablet

Most side effects of Telcure Beta are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

May cause dizziness—avoid driving if affected. Do not stop abruptly (risk of rebound hypertension/angina). Use with caution in asthma/COPD (may worsen bronchospasm), diabetes (can mask hypoglycemia symptoms), peripheral vascular disease, thyroid disorders, liver impairment, and in patients with bradycardia, heart block, or acute decompensated heart failure. Monitor pulse and BP regularly.

Do not take Telcure Beta if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines. Not for people with a very slow heart rate, certain heart block disorders, or uncontrolled heart failure. Generally avoided in severe asthma.

Interactions with other medicines

Other antihypertensives (additive BP lowering), calcium channel blockers like verapamil/diltiazem (bradycardia/heart block), digoxin (bradycardia), antiarrhythmics like amiodarone (conduction issues), clonidine (rebound hypertension on withdrawal), NSAIDs (may reduce antihypertensive effect), insulin/oral antidiabetics (masked hypoglycemia), CYP2D6 inhibitors e.g., fluoxetine/paroxetine/quinidine (increase metoprolol levels)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.

Get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position. Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor as it can cause sudden increase in your blood pressure.
