How Telmiget Ct 6.25 works

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II, lowering blood pressure. Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that helps remove excess salt and water through urine, reducing blood volume and blood pressure. The combination provides additive BP control.

How to take Telmiget Ct 6.25

Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food; swallow the tablet with water. Because it contains a diuretic, morning dosing is preferred to reduce night-time urination. Do not stop abruptly without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. It can cause severe dehydration, a sharp fall in blood pressure and dangerous salt imbalances. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Telmiget Ct are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Monitor blood pressure, kidney function and electrolytes (especially potassium and sodium). Risk of dehydration and hypotension, particularly in elderly or those on diuretics/low-salt diet. Seek urgent help for facial/lip swelling or breathing difficulty (angioedema).

Do not take Telmiget Ct if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines. Not for people who are unable to pass urine, or who are severely dehydrated.

Interactions with other medicines

NSAIDs (may reduce effect and worsen kidney function), lithium (toxicity risk), other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics (risk of high potassium with telmisartan), diuretics/corticosteroids (electrolyte imbalance), antidiabetic medicines (may need dose adjustment), ACE inhibitors or aliskiren (increased kidney issues/hyperkalemia—avoid in diabetes), alcohol (adds dizziness/low BP)
