Vildagliptin 50 mg
Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycaemic control (alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medicines) along with diet and exercise.
Vildagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). This increases glucose-dependent insulin release and reduces glucagon secretion, thereby lowering blood sugar with a low risk of hypoglycaemia when used alone.
Take as prescribed by the doctor. Usually taken orally with or without food, at the same time each day. Swallow the tablet with water; do not skip meals and continue diet/exercise plan.
Common side effects of VILDAFREE-50MG TAB may include:
Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Use with caution in kidney impairment (dose adjustment may be needed); monitor renal function. Risk of pancreatitis—stop and seek medical help if severe persistent abdominal pain occurs. Liver enzyme elevations/hepatitis have been reported—check liver function before treatment and periodically; discontinue if jaundice or significant transaminase rise. Severe joint pain and serious skin reactions (e.g., blisters) are rare but possible. Hypoglycaemia risk increases when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas.
