How Volibo 0.2 Tablet works

Voglibose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that delays carbohydrate digestion in the small intestine. This slows glucose absorption after meals, thereby reducing postprandial blood sugar spikes.

How to take Volibo 0.2 Tablet

Oral tablet. Usually taken immediately before the start of each main meal (or with the first bite of food) as prescribed. If you skip a meal, skip the dose. Follow diet and exercise advice and monitor blood glucose regularly.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Volibo 0.2 Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may cause low blood sugar and marked stomach upset. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Volibo 0.2 Tablet

Most side effects of Volibo are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• soft stools
• nausea

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in liver disease; periodic liver function monitoring may be advised. Not recommended in inflammatory bowel disease, colonic ulceration, partial intestinal obstruction, chronic intestinal diseases with digestion/absorption disorders, or severe renal impairment unless advised by a doctor. Risk of hypoglycaemia increases when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas—carry glucose (dextrose) for treatment of low sugar (table sugar may act slowly). Seek medical help for severe abdominal symptoms or signs of liver injury (jaundice, dark urine).

Do not take Volibo if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with heart failure, active bladder cancer or unexplained blood in the urine.

Interactions with other medicines

Insulin and sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk),other antidiabetic drugs (additive glucose-lowering),digestive enzymes/intestinal adsorbents (may reduce effect),corticosteroids and sympathomimetics (may raise blood glucose),warfarin (monitor INR as per clinician)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and light. Keep in original packaging and out of reach of children.
