Acarbose 100 mg
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (adjunct to diet and exercise) to control post-meal (postprandial) blood glucose; may be used alone or with other antidiabetic medicines (e.g., metformin, sulfonylureas, insulin) as prescribed.
Acarbose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that delays digestion and absorption of carbohydrates in the intestine. This reduces the rise in blood glucose after meals and helps improve overall glycaemic control.
Tablet (oral). Take with the first bite of each main meal, as advised by your doctor. Swallow with water; do not skip meals after taking it. If used with other diabetes medicines, follow the prescribed schedule; monitor blood glucose regularly.
Common side effects of ZUCATOR 100MG TAB may include:
Use with caution in liver disease; periodic liver enzyme monitoring may be advised. Not recommended in patients with inflammatory bowel disease, colonic ulceration, partial intestinal obstruction, or chronic intestinal diseases associated with digestion/absorption disorders. If hypoglycaemia occurs when combined with sulfonylurea/insulin, treat with glucose (dextrose) rather than table sugar (sucrose). Stop and seek medical help if severe abdominal symptoms or signs of liver injury (jaundice, dark urine) occur.
