Zyrova 5 mg Tablet contains Rosuvastatin (5mg). It belongs to the Statin (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor) class of medicines.

How Zyrova 5 mg Tablet works

Rosuvastatin is a statin (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor) that reduces cholesterol production in the liver. It increases LDL receptor activity, lowering LDL cholesterol and triglycerides and modestly increasing HDL.

How to take Zyrova 5 mg Tablet

Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow tablet whole with water; continue diet and exercise advice. Do not stop without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Zyrova 5 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not take two doses within 12 hours.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine is unlikely to cause immediate harm but may increase the risk of muscle and liver injury. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Zyrova 5 mg Tablet

Most side effects of Zyrova are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Headache

• stomach pain
• constipation
• dizziness
• muscle pain (myalgia)
• weakness
• increased liver enzymes

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Not recommended in active liver disease or unexplained persistent rise in liver enzymes. Seek urgent medical help for muscle pain/tenderness/weakness with fever or dark urine (risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis). Use with caution in kidney disease, hypothyroidism, heavy alcohol use, age >65 years, and history of muscle disorders. Periodic lipid profile and liver function tests may be needed.

Do not take Zyrova if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Not for people with active liver disease.

Interactions with other medicines

Cyclosporine (contraindicated/avoid), gemfibrozil and other fibrates (increased myopathy risk), niacin (increased myopathy risk), protease inhibitors (e.g., atazanavir/ritonavir, lopinavir/ritonavir), anticoagulants like warfarin (may alter INR), ezetimibe (additive effects), antacids containing aluminium/magnesium (reduce absorption; separate dosing), colchicine (myopathy risk)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.

Zyrova 5 Tablet is generally safe and well-tolerated; however, it may cause diarrhea, gas, or an upset stomach in some people. If any of these happen to you, take it with food. Inform your doctor if you experience fatigue, muscle weakness, or muscle pain. Your doctor may check your liver function before starting the treatment and regularly thereafter. Inform your doctor if you notice signs of liver problems, such as stomach pains, unusually dark urine, or yellowing of skin or eyes. Inform your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease, or diabetes before starting treatment with this medicine. If you are diabetic, monitor your blood sugar level regularly, as Zyrova 5 Tablet may cause an increase in your blood sugar level. Do not take Zyrova 5 Tablet if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
