Rosuvastatin 5 mg
Treatment of high cholesterol (hypercholesterolaemia) and mixed dyslipidaemia; lowering LDL and triglycerides and raising HDL; prevention of cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke) in high-risk patients as advised by doctor.
Rosuvastatin is a statin (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor) that reduces cholesterol production in the liver. It increases LDL receptor activity, lowering LDL cholesterol and triglycerides and modestly increasing HDL.
Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow tablet whole with water; continue diet and exercise advice. Do not stop without medical advice.

Not recommended in active liver disease or unexplained persistent rise in liver enzymes. Seek urgent medical help for muscle pain/tenderness/weakness with fever or dark urine (risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis). Use with caution in kidney disease, hypothyroidism, heavy alcohol use, age >65 years, and history of muscle disorders. Periodic lipid profile and liver function tests may be needed.
