Apixaban is an oral anticoagulant that selectively inhibits factor Xa. This reduces thrombin generation and blood clot formation, helping prevent and treat harmful clots.
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually twice daily. Can be taken with or without food; swallow with water at the same times each day. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice; if a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered on the same day and continue the regular schedule (do not double the dose).
Common side effects of APIXABID 2.5MG TAB may include:
Risk of serious bleeding; seek urgent care for unusual bleeding, black stools, blood in urine, severe headache, or weakness. Do not stop apixaban abruptly due to increased risk of stroke/clotting. Use caution in kidney or liver impairment, elderly, low body weight, and with a history of bleeding. Inform doctor before surgery/dental procedures; may need temporary discontinuation. Not recommended in patients with active pathological bleeding; caution with spinal/epidural anesthesia (risk of spinal hematoma).
