Composition of Candid Cream 50 g

Candid Cream 50 g contains Beclometasone (0.025% w/w) + Clotrimazole (1% w/w). It belongs to the Imidazole antifungal class of medicines.

How Candid Cream 50 g works

Clotrimazole is an imidazole antifungal that inhibits synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. This increases membrane permeability leading to leakage of cellular contents and death/inhibition of fungi.

How to take Candid Cream 50 g

For external use only. Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer and gently rub in 2-3 times daily or as directed by a doctor. Continue for the full prescribed duration even if symptoms improve; wash hands after application and avoid contact with eyes, mouth and broken skin.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Candid-B Cream, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a racing heart, marked tremor, headache and a fall in blood potassium. It is unlikely from skin use; swallowing the preparation may cause stomach upset. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Candid are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

For external use only. Stop use and consult a doctor if severe irritation, blistering, swelling or allergic reaction occurs. Avoid use on eyes/mucosa and do not apply under occlusive dressings unless advised. If symptoms persist/worsen after 2-4 weeks, seek medical advice. Use with caution in patients with known hypersensitivity to azole antifungals.

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for anyone with a known allergy to the propellant used in the inhaler. For external use only. Not for use in the eyes.

Interactions with other medicines

Topical use has minimal interactions; may reduce effectiveness of latex condoms/diaphragms when applied in genital area. Concurrent topical products on same site may increase irritation.

How to store Candid Cream 50 g

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Keep cap tightly closed and out of reach of children.

Apply a thin layer of Candid-B Cream to clean, dry skin as directed by your doctor. Candid-B Cream is for external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, or inside the vagina, and rinse thoroughly with water if accidental contact occurs. Wash your hands before and after applying Candid-B Cream unless your hands are the treated area. Do not cover the treated area with airtight dressings or tight bandages unless advised by your doctor. Use Candid-B Cream only for the duration prescribed, as prolonged or unsupervised use of steroid-containing creams may thin the skin. Avoid applying Candid-B Cream on large areas, the face, or private areas unless advised by your doctor. Do not mix Candid-B Cream with other steroid creams or topical medicines unless instructed by your doctor. Keep the affected skin clean and dry, as moisture and humidity may worsen fungal infections. Stop using Candid-B Cream and consult your doctor if severe burning, irritation, or worsening of the infection occurs. Consult your doctor if the infection spreads or does not improve after about 2 weeks of treatment. Do not share Candid-B Cream with others, even if they have similar symptoms.
