Same salt, different brand — what does that mean?

A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Nebilong 2.5 Tablet. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.

All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.

Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.

Composition of Nebilong 2.5 Tablet

Nebilong 2.5 Tablet contains Nebivolol (2.5mg). It belongs to the Beta blocker class of medicines.

Uses of Nebilong 2.5 Tablet

  • High blood pressure
  • Angina
  • Heart failure
  • Irregular heartbeat

Benefits of Nebilong 2.5 Tablet

In High blood pressure
Nebilong slows the heart a little and lets it beat with less force, bringing blood pressure down and reducing the long-term risk of stroke and heart attack.
In Angina
Nebilong reduces how hard the heart has to work, so it needs less oxygen and you get fewer episodes of chest pain on exertion.
In Heart failure
Nebilong protects a weakened heart from the stress hormones that would otherwise strain it further, improving how well it pumps over time and lowering the risk of hospital admission.
In Irregular heartbeat
Nebilong steadies the heart's rhythm and keeps the rate from racing, which eases palpitations and the dizziness or breathlessness that come with them.

How Nebilong 2.5 Tablet works

Nebivolol slows the heart and reduces the force of each beat by blocking the effect of adrenaline, so the heart works less hard and uses less oxygen.

How to take Nebilong 2.5 Tablet

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush or break it unless your doctor has told you to. Take it with or without food, at the same time each day. Taking it at about the same time each day helps you remember. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a dangerously slow heartbeat, a severe fall in blood pressure, wheezing and fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Nebilong 2.5 Tablet

Most side effects of Nebilong are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:

  • Tiredness
  • Cold hands and feet
  • Slow pulse
  • Dizziness
  • Disturbed sleep
  • Breathlessness

Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
