Olmesartan medoxomil 20 mg
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure); may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensives to reduce risk of cardiovascular events associated with uncontrolled BP.
Olmesartan medoxomil is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It blocks AT1 receptors, preventing angiotensin II–mediated vasoconstriction and aldosterone release, thereby lowering blood pressure and reducing strain on the heart.
Tablet for oral use. Take once daily at the same time each day, with or without food, as prescribed by a doctor. Swallow whole with water; do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Common side effects of OLMESAT 20 may include:
Not recommended in pregnancy (can harm the unborn baby); stop and consult a doctor if pregnancy occurs. Use caution in kidney disease, liver impairment, dehydration/volume depletion, and in patients with high potassium; periodic monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function and serum potassium is advised. Rare: severe sprue-like enteropathy (chronic diarrhea/weight loss) has been reported with olmesartan—seek medical advice if persistent diarrhea occurs. May cause dizziness—use caution while driving.
