Composition of Sacustart 50 Tablet

Sacustart 50 Tablet contains Sacubitril 24 mg + Valsartan 26 mg (as Sacubitril/Valsartan) per tablet. It belongs to the Angiotensin receptor neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI) class of medicines.

How Sacustart 50 Tablet works

Sacubitril inhibits neprilysin, increasing levels of natriuretic peptides that promote vasodilation and diuresis. Valsartan blocks angiotensin II (AT1) receptors, reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone effects. Together they lower cardiac workload and improve heart failure outcomes.

How to take Sacustart 50 Tablet

Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually twice daily, with or without food, at the same times each day. Do not take with an ACE inhibitor; allow a 36-hour washout when switching from an ACE inhibitor to sacubitril/valsartan.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Sacustart 50 Tablet

Most side effects of Sacustart are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Low blood pressure (dizziness)
• increased potassium (hyperkalemia)
• kidney function changes
• headache
• cough
• nausea
• diarrhea
• fatigue

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Sacustart 50 Tablet

Warnings and precautions

Prescription-only. Risk of angioedema (higher in patients with prior ACEi-related angioedema); stop and seek urgent care if face/lip/tongue swelling or breathing difficulty occurs. Contraindicated in pregnancy; can cause fetal harm. Avoid use with ACE inhibitors (need 36-hour gap) and avoid in patients with history of angioedema related to ACEi/ARB. Use with caution in renal impairment, liver impairment, low blood pressure, dehydration, and in patients with high potassium; periodic monitoring of BP, kidney function and serum potassium is recommended.

Do not take Sacustart if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines.

Interactions with other medicines

ACE inhibitors (contraindicated; 36-hour washout required),aliskiren (avoid in diabetes; caution in renal impairment),potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics (e.g., spironolactone, eplerenone, amiloride),NSAIDs (may worsen kidney function),lithium (may increase lithium levels/toxicity),other antihypertensives (additive hypotension)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and light; keep in original pack and out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Sacustart 50 Tablet

Blood pressure medicines work only while you take them — do not stop because you feel well. Tell your doctor at once if you become pregnant or are planning a pregnancy. Keep a home blood-pressure record if your doctor has asked for one.
