How Telmiget 40 mg Tablet works

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It blocks angiotensin II (AT1) receptors, causing blood vessels to relax and widen, which lowers blood pressure and reduces strain on the heart.

How to take Telmiget 40 mg Tablet

Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow with water; do not stop abruptly without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Warnings and precautions

Not recommended in pregnancy (can harm the fetus), especially 2nd/3rd trimester; use caution in breastfeeding. Use with caution in kidney disease, liver impairment, dehydration/low blood volume, and in patients with high potassium. Monitor blood pressure, kidney function and serum potassium, especially after starting or dose changes. May cause dizziness—avoid driving if affected.

Do not take Telmiget if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines.

Interactions with other medicines

ACE inhibitors (e.g., enalapril) or aliskiren (higher risk of kidney issues/high potassium—avoid in diabetes), potassium supplements/salt substitutes and potassium-sparing diuretics (e.g., spironolactone), NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen) may reduce effect and worsen kidney function, lithium (may increase lithium levels/toxicity), other antihypertensives and diuretics (additive BP lowering).

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and direct light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
