Composition of Telmital Ct Tablet

Telmital Ct Tablet contains Telmisartan (40mg) + Chlorthalidone (12.5mg). It belongs to the Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) + Thiazide-like diuretic class of medicines.

How Telmital Ct Tablet works

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking AT1 receptors, lowering blood pressure. Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that increases salt and water excretion, reducing blood volume and BP. The combination provides additive BP control.

How to take Telmital Ct Tablet

Oral tablet. Take once daily at the same time each day, preferably in the morning (diuretic effect). Can be taken with or without food. Swallow with water; do not stop or change dose without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Telmital-CT Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. It can cause severe dehydration, a sharp fall in blood pressure and dangerous salt imbalances. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Telmital Ct Tablet

Most side effects of Telmital Ct are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• dizziness
• headache
• fatigue
• increased urination
• low blood pressure
• nausea
• muscle cramps
• low potassium
• increased uric acid
• increased blood glucose

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Not recommended in pregnancy (can harm the fetus). Use caution in kidney disease, renal artery stenosis, liver impairment, dehydration/volume depletion, and in elderly. Monitor blood pressure, kidney function (creatinine), and electrolytes (especially potassium and sodium). May precipitate gout (due to chlorthalidone) and may worsen diabetes control. Risk of symptomatic hypotension especially after first doses or with low salt intake/diuretics.

Do not take Telmital Ct if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines. Not for people who are unable to pass urine, or who are severely dehydrated.

Interactions with other medicines

ACE inhibitors or aliskiren (in diabetes/renal impairment) increases risk of kidney problems and hyperkalemia, potassium supplements/salt substitutes or potassium-sparing diuretics (hyperkalemia), NSAIDs (reduced antihypertensive effect and kidney risk), lithium (increased lithium toxicity), digoxin (electrolyte changes may increase arrhythmia risk), other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), corticosteroids or amphotericin B (increased hypokalemia risk), antidiabetic medicines (may need dose adjustment)

Store below 25°C in a dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.

Telmital-CT Tablet may be taken with or without food. Telmital-CT Tablet may cause dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids and inform your doctor if you develop extreme thirst, very dry mouth, or muscle weakness. It may cause dizziness. Get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position. Use of Telmital-CT Tablet during pregnancy or breastfeeding is unsafe. It may also decrease the risk of stroke and heart attacks.
