Tioform Respicaps contains Tiotropium bromide inhalation powder (as Respicaps) 18 mcg per capsule. It belongs to the Long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) / anticholinergic class of medicines.

How Tioform Respicaps works

Tiotropium is a long-acting anticholinergic (LAMA) bronchodilator. It blocks muscarinic receptors in airway smooth muscle, leading to sustained bronchodilation and easier breathing.

How to take Tioform Respicaps

For inhalation use only with a compatible capsule-based inhaler device. Do not swallow the capsule. Typically inhale the contents of 1 capsule once daily at the same time each day, with or without food, as prescribed. Rinse mouth after use if advised.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a racing heart, marked tremor, headache and a fall in blood potassium. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Tioform Respicaps are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Not for relief of acute bronchospasm/attack—use a rescue inhaler for sudden symptoms. Avoid getting powder in eyes (may worsen narrow-angle glaucoma). Use with caution in urinary retention/prostatic hyperplasia and renal impairment. Stop and seek care if paradoxical bronchospasm, severe allergic reaction, or worsening breathing occurs. Keep regular follow-up; do not exceed prescribed dose.

How to store Tioform Respicaps

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and direct light. Keep capsules in the blister until use.
