Ursodeoxycholic acid is a hydrophilic bile acid that reduces cholesterol saturation of bile by decreasing hepatic cholesterol secretion and intestinal absorption. It also improves bile flow and protects liver cells from toxic bile acids in cholestatic conditions.

Take Ursodil -SR Tablet after a meal with a glass of milk or water to help improve its absorption and reduce stomach upset. Take Ursodil -SR Tablet regularly at the same time each day, as it works gradually and may take time to show beneficial results. Follow a healthy diet and exercise regularly, and avoid alcohol while taking Ursodil -SR Tablet. Avoid heavy or oily meals, as high-fat foods may worsen gallbladder or liver-related symptoms. Diarrhea may occur as a side effect. Drink plenty of fluids, including oral rehydration solution (ORS), and inform your doctor if it persists or if you notice blood in your stools. Your doctor may monitor liver function tests and bilirubin levels regularly, especially during the first few months of the treatment. Seek medical advice promptly if you develop worsening jaundice, severe itching, dark urine, pale stools, persistent abdominal pain, or fever. Do not stop taking Ursodil -SR Tablet without consulting your doctor, as liver conditions often require monitored and continuous therapy.
