Composition of Asomex 2.5 Tablet

Asomex 2.5 Tablet contains Amlodipine (2.5mg). It belongs to the Calcium channel blocker (Dihydropyridine) class of medicines.

How Asomex 2.5 Tablet works

Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It relaxes blood vessels by inhibiting calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle, lowering blood pressure and reducing the heart’s workload. It also improves blood flow to the heart muscle, helping prevent angina.

How to take Asomex 2.5 Tablet

Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow with water; do not stop abruptly without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Asomex as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Asomex than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Asomex 2.5 Tablet

Most side effects of Asomex are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Ankle/leg swelling (edema)
• headache
• dizziness
• flushing
• palpitations
• fatigue
• nausea
• abdominal pain
• sleepiness

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in liver disease (dose adjustment may be needed). May cause dizziness—avoid driving/operating machinery if affected. Use cautiously in severe aortic stenosis, heart failure, or very low blood pressure. Do not stop or change dose without consulting a doctor.

Interactions with other medicines

Simvastatin (limit dose; increased simvastatin levels),other antihypertensives (additive BP lowering),CYP3A4 inhibitors such as clarithromycin/erythromycin, azole antifungals, ritonavir (may increase amlodipine levels),CYP3A4 inducers such as rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine (may reduce effect),grapefruit juice (may increase levels in some patients)

Store below 25°C in a dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
