Clopidogrel 75 mg (as clopidogrel bisulfate) tablet
Atherowin-75 mg Tablet is used for prevention of atherothrombotic events (heart attack, stroke) in patients with atherosclerosis; after myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, or established peripheral arterial disease; acute coronary syndrome (with/without stent) usually with aspirin as prescribed.
Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated August 2026
Atherowin-75 mg Tablet contains Clopidogrel 75 mg (as clopidogrel bisulfate) tablet. It belongs to the P2Y12 (ADP) receptor inhibitor (thienopyridine) class of medicines.
Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet medicine that irreversibly blocks the platelet P2Y12 (ADP) receptor. This reduces platelet activation and aggregation, helping prevent formation of harmful blood clots in arteries.
Take by mouth as prescribed, usually 75 mg once daily, with or without food. Take at the same time each day; do not stop suddenly without medical advice. If a dose is missed, take it when remembered unless it is close to the next dose; do not double the dose.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take the missed dose of Atherowin-75 mg as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.
Taking more Atherowin-75 mg than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Atherowin-75 mg are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
| Pregnancy | Consult doctor (use only if clearly needed; limited data, assess benefit-risk) |
|---|---|
| Alcohol | Use with caution (alcohol can increase risk of stomach irritation and bleeding) |
| Habit forming | No |
Increases risk of bleeding; seek urgent care for unusual bleeding, black/tarry stools, blood in urine, vomiting blood, or severe headache/weakness. Use caution if you have a bleeding disorder, recent surgery/trauma, peptic ulcer, liver disease, or are elderly. Inform doctor/dentist before any surgery or dental procedure. Rare: thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) and severe allergic reactions—seek immediate care for fever, confusion, jaundice, purple spots, or swelling/breathing difficulty.
Aspirin/other antiplatelets, anticoagulants (warfarin, heparin, DOACs), NSAIDs (ibuprofen, diclofenac), SSRIs/SNRIs (sertraline, fluoxetine, venlafaxine) may increase bleeding risk. PPIs that inhibit CYP2C19 (omeprazole, esomeprazole) may reduce clopidogrel effect; prefer pantoprazole if acid suppression needed. Strong CYP2C19 inhibitors (fluconazole, fluvoxamine) may reduce effect.
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), in original blister pack, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
