Envas 5 Tablet contains Enalapril (5mg). It belongs to the ACE inhibitor class of medicines.

How Envas 5 Tablet works

Enalapril blocks ACE and reduces angiotensin II, causing vasodilation and reduced fluid-retaining hormone effects. This lowers blood pressure and improves cardiac efficiency.

How to take Envas 5 Tablet

Take as prescribed at the same time daily, with or without food. If taking diuretics, doctor may adjust doses to reduce first-dose hypotension. Do not discontinue without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of ENvas 5 Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Envas 5 Tablet

Most side effects of Envas are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• low blood pressure
• increased potassium
• nausea
• rash

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Not recommended in pregnancy; avoid in history of ACE inhibitor-induced angioedema. Monitor kidney function and serum potassium; risk higher in kidney disease, dehydration, or with interacting medicines.

Do not take Envas if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines.

Potassium supplements/salt substitutes, potassium-sparing diuretics, NSAIDs, lithium, other antihypertensives/diuretics, ARBs/aliskiren, trimethoprim

How to store Envas 5 Tablet

Store below 25°C, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Envas 5 Tablet

It should be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. ENvas 5 Tablet can make you feel dizzy for the first few days, so rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. You can also prefer taking it at bedtime to avoid dizziness throughout the day. Let your doctor know about any cough, or throat irritation that does not go away. It may increase the level of potassium in blood. Avoid taking potassium supplements and potassium-rich foods such as banana and broccoli. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.
